Re: WarpSpeed 32x16

I think the path will be interesting. I wanted to make something in between straightjacket and speedvector. almost named this one WarpVector but I see too many vectors as is. any criticism is greatly appreciated. as I'm just now making maps. any and all comments are welcome

Hello,
I also like your path-course.
I would remove the segments on the path and maybe make a grid on buildable spots.
But good work, especially because it´s your first map attempt.
Greetings

Re: WarpSpeed 32x16

First of all I want to thank you for submitting your map. As a mapcreator myself, I know how much work and effort it takes to create a map.
There are some things I want to mention about your map.

First of all let's talk about the design. For the first map you made, the design looks pretty decent, but over all there are still a lot of things you could improve. I still think the background is a little bit boring. I could see some potential with the stars and clouds though. Maybe you can come up with a similar idea, that looks a little bit better. By the way, I would leave the sun away. It distracts from playing and it doesn't really match with the rest of the design. Moreover I am not completely sure if it is a good idea, to write the map's name in the middle of the map. If you want to implement the name, maybe try building a bock around the name. At the moment it look like you have just thrown the name in without trying to build a design around it.
One last point concerning the design. Already mentioned by Alexinator. Try to avoid lines in the path. The point of the grid is to make clear where you can build and where exactly the fields are. Having them on the path could lead to distraction.

Let me also briefly talk about the path. I do understand what you wanted to create. We are short of short maps, so creating one, is mainly a good idea. But I think that this one might simply be a little bit to hard to play. It is nearly impossible to play. Moreover if you look at timetrouble (an already existing map, in the testing area) your path looks quite similar. Even with the clock at the end, timetrouble is still quite hard to defend. So I am wondering about the playability of you map.

I would recommend, that you maybe try to create a little bit longer remake of the map. (Maybe 3 path lines instead of 2? And put the path lines closer together.)
Cheers Pezi

Re: WarpSpeed 32x16

Thank you very much for your input. Warpspeed and testrun were just to make sure I could put everything in the file right and get it up here. So as long as the path file is good. I will be spending considerably more time on the next map.

Re: WarpSpeed 32x16

You need to name the pathfile mapname.map instead of mapname.txt. Meaning you have to save it as map file. You can easily doing that by renaming it, but besides that, the file looks ok.
Just take care that you name all 3 files. the zip the path and the jpeg the same way: mapname.jpeq mapname.map and mapname .zip

What tool do you use to make paths? The reason there is lines in the path is cuz I've been bucket filling the whole map, using the basic map with squares you have provided. When I use a selection tool it comes out a bit cady wompus

I am not sure if there is still need to answer this question cause you seem to have found a pretty good way to design maps on your own. For all my maps I use Photoshop to design the maps and of course I use the mapeditor to create the mapfiles.
When using Photoshop I normally have severall seperate layers: One or more for the background and one for the path itself.

Path and Mapdesign dont achieve the minimum requirements. See Pezinators review.
