Re: Paris 32x16

So, what do you think? Do you like the path/design?

(Did I make the tunnel (underground) under the Eiffel Tower right? Check it in the Pathfile please. It's just a space: " ", I'm not sure if that is the right format for a tunnel).

Re: Paris 32x16

sorry Daninja,
i have no constructive critisism, i don't know anything about pathfiles and have no clue about map design...
but it looks very nice, has an unique creeproad and i simply love Paris  !

The only blocked spots are near the Eiffel Tower (12) and also the water is blocked. Everything else is open for building.

Re: Paris 32x16

You want some constructive critisism? I got some. At least i hope so. First of all you could have a look at the the suggestions for improvement of Jungletour, cause most of those are the same.
Point 1: You should make the river so that it is connected in the full image (Like in Jungletour)
2. You should improve the Eifeltour, so that it doesn't look so flat as it looks now (Jungletour temple)
3. The whole design isn't sharp enough in my opinion.

I really like the path though. It's a really nice idea!
I hope that this is constructive in your opinion :D

Thanks for the feedback, here is my reply:

1) The background image is not drawn, it's a photographic capture rendered in Photoshop to look drawn/cartoonish. I can only change the background image by applying various filters, but I can't change the content of it or the shapes. I can't make the river flow in the middle of the map, if it doesn't flow like that in real Paris.
2) As in first point. It's not drawn, i can make it look less flat. And in addition, if you look at Paris from above, it will look flat to you too, so no need to try to get some great 3Dness here.
3) I used the Sharpen tool, so the background image is as sharp as it can be. Maybe you're confused by the path, which is smoothen to look nice, but the background is as sharp as it can be.

So unfortunately there is nothing to be done with these problems. But thanks anyway.

Re: Paris 32x16

I know^^ xD. That's the reason why i made this. But the colours are much better in this one, it is sharper and the Eifeltour looks a bit better

Yeah, but that's why I spent 4 hours in Photoshop trying to make it look not like a path with a photography underground, but like a MAP :D

I think that my underground is less confusing and better playable, than just a photography like yours :ugeek:

Re: Paris 32x16

Ok, to let you sleep without worries, I upload also the map with the basic underground before applying filters and making it look better. Tell me honestly, whether you'd like to play rather on my rendered map or on this with the photography underground....IMO this is just ugly...

Re: Paris 32x16

the maps looks really realistic ! I 'm a parisian and i'm telling u, i couldn't do better than this given the circumstances.
And it's a good idea to put real places in the game, it makes the game more realistic :D .
Can't wait to play on this map ;)

Re: Paris 32x16

I think the whole thing is that the map would be confuse new players, just the map NYC has shown us that such backgrounds are misleading players, sorry!

I like the first version the most, even if there is no grid :)

Re: Paris 32x16

Index: Its not the same as NYC. NYC confuses players, not because of the background only, BUT MAINLY because of the CRAZY path. On first look you can't see exactly how they are gonna go, and that cofuses you most.

Unlike that this map is nice, smooth, VERY CLEAR PATH (everybody knows in 1 sec where and how the creeps go. Honestly, I think its good, it will not get you confused, your eyes will not hurt, the path looks interesting...I think this map should go through.

dcode: Thanks, I like the first version the most too :) Can you get it added? Along with Angel, pick any version you like, or if you dont like any design at all tell me what to improve :)

The river could be in the middle that the cut between the two maps disappears.

OK, I see the argument to make the river flow like one appear a lot, so I tried my best, here is the outcome, hope you like it now! :) :

Its good, I like it...if the creeps are visible on the path, i have nothing against this version to be added :)

Re: Paris 32x16

Dcode I definitely like your version more. The new colours look quite nice. I still think that the river can be improved more, but the rest is getting better!
Actually I don't really know which one of your to attempts is better, I like both.
