heavy lags in 1.1

Hello,

after fixing the shell-script for linux i was able to start the game.

but, unfortunally, i wasn't able to play ^^.

the problem: i have heavy lags, 1 picture (in words: one) per second. Sometimes 1 picture in each 3 seconds.

It's not playable with this circumstances.

i use a exotic linux, java is openjdk-7-jre

Everything worked fine in the old version of creeptd.

I also set the options down (minimal, no shadows...)

Has someone else the same probs?

If someone uses linux: please tell me the package-name of your java...

Have a nice day ;)

shit, your response came 15 minutes too late, i invested about an hour to get the "original" oracal java running (exactly the one you posted), and uninstalled open-jdk 6 and 7. Nothing's better now, which underlines your post.

No help availible for us? :D

will look for some java-fx-packages... otherwise try to boot windows (which i did last time some months ago...)

Are this lags (freezing game view, jumps, freeze again) or is the whole application not responding at 100% cpu? I ask because there are heavy problems with the server currently and it's possible that it has nothing to do with linux at all.

man, wir können das auch gern auf deutsch klären ;D

No, my CPU isn't at 100%, maybe 80 i guess, but that's the level i had with the old version, too.

the creeps are "jumping", it's just one pic every second, that i can see. so, "moving" the mouse is more "guess, where it'll appear" :)

edit:
my log file also tells me, that javafx is not availible. But there is another problem, not sure, how important:
it can't create/write the file "client.ctdc"

Ist das gerade auch noch so, seitdem ich den Server neu gestartet habe?

Guess I could need a full thread stack trace of that. I'll look what I can do, maybe a stack trace tab to the log window (Ctrl+L)...or running it myself in a VM.

Having similar issues, I'm running the Windows client. I can log into the lobby no problem, but its all down-hill from there. I can join a game, when the game is started, I usually can not download the map in time, eventually, if i wait long enough, it will just kick me and return me to the log-in screen. (that's when I'm lucky). From there i usually have to close the client and restart CreepTD or i will be unable to type in the lobby or in a game lobby. If I'm unlucky enough to actually get into a game, it takes several minutes to get into the game, in which case everyone else I'm playing with has been playing for a few minutes, creeps have leaked through the exit, i can build if i can move fast enough, but then it just kicks me from the game back to the log-in screen. At this point, a pop-up window comes up and says something about a ping response error. If i do not close the client and restart it i can not type, or join games. This is really shitty cause i actually got into the game, and then it booted me and at the end of the game i will lose the skill. I have yet to play a single game since the update.------tried playing a solo survivor, CPU Usage capped and crashed the client

I think I found the cause for the linux and mac troubles. It is that setting the master gain volume on a sound is not available there and this raises lots of exceptions in no time. I have fixed that by just trying to set the volume, and if this does not work, leaving it as is. On affected systems it will not be possible to set the volume to a specific level (just to "off" or "on"), but it should circumvent the heavy cpu usage for now. Try it out :)

@GhostStalker: Let me know if this fix is also working for you. If not, please post me a log by pressing Ctrl+L to access the log window.

yes, i also tried to set master volume to 0 /off when the problems appeard. But that didn't help.

if it's really a sound-problem: does someone know, which parameter/option i must type in behind java ind the console /shell script to start the game without sound? Just a small idea, but i can't try it today. it's something like --nosound...

Have you already tried to update to the recent version? Is it still lagging that much?

Yeah, then there must be another cause. I'm investigating :)

When I run it in a virtual machine, I get 50% cpu on java and another 50% on Xorg without any relevant log output that would help me to determine the problem. Is this the same for you?
